The Canal Run has seen tremendous growth over the past 10 years. With 900 participants expected on Saturday, July 18 for the 40th annual event, safety is our number one goal. We are asking community members to limit travel on M-203 during the race, if at all possible.
- Racers will be on the M-203 course from 7:15 to 10:15 a.m.
- Quincy St. in Hancock will also be closed from 7 to 10:30 a.m., please note that detours will be in place.
If you can help us spread the word, we’d greatly appreciate it!
This event is a great way to get involved and cheer on participants! Some ideas include: put out a sprinkler, open up the hatchback and play some tunes, cheer and shout, or make a sign or poster to encourage participants along the course.
We already have received commitments from many groups around the community that will be out supporting the race, including Sounds & Motion, Keweenaw Drum Circle, Hancock Fire Department, Houghton County Medical Care residents, and athletic teams from Finlandia University and Michigan Tech. Thank you to all of those groups, and the dozens of other folks who come out and support the race.
