Start your Canal Run weekend off with a fan-favorite in the fourth annual Key Ingredients. This amazing night of live music and free appetizers throughout downtown Hancock is put on by the city of Hancock, and will go from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 14. This year the event features 16 musical acts at 14 locations. The entire family-friendly event is free and open to the public as they explore the offerings of downtown Hancock.
“Four years ago, we began with a couple pianos and some salsa and chips, but this year’s Key Ingredients promises to be louder and tastier than ever,” said Stephen Smith, who conceived the idea for Key Ingredients and continues to play a key role organizing it. “Come out and enjoy the city-wide celebration of music and tastes. We have something for every ear and taste bud.”
For many this will be the first time seeing downtown Hancock after its streetscape project during the summer of 2016. New sidewalks, light poles, trees and more line the pedestrian-friendly downtown area.
This year’s musical acts will extend from La Cantina Mexican Restaurant on the East 100 Block of Quincy Street to the Copper Island Beach Club on the shores of the Portage Lake Shipping Canal to Gemignani’s Restaurant on the 500 block of Quincy Street. Musical genres include jazz-rock, eclectic, folk rock, classic rock, accordion, classics, fusion, jazz and flamenco. Below is a full list of the sites and musical acts. Following the outdoor music, starting at 8:30 p.m., will be an all-star jazz concert at Orpheum Theater and Studio Pizza featuring Mesun-Butcher Project, Mike Irish and Eric Hopper.
