A new website is now live for the Canal Run thanks to a partnership between the 1976-founded race and SmartCreative, a creative agency located in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula.
“We’re always focused on how we can provide the best experience for the participants in our event, and we know that a mobile-friendly experience and easy-to-navigate layout will help people focus less on finding information and more on getting what they need from our website,” said Michael H. Babcock, a member of the Canal Run’s organizing committee.
The new website is available at www.canal.run (you can also continue to access it through the hancockcanalrun.com address). It features a responsive design that will work well on smart phones, tablets and desktop computers, highlights stunning course photography courtesy of our friends brockit, inc., and it is powered by WordPress, the most popular platform on the web.
“This website will meet our users needs immediately and allow us the flexibility we need to continue to have a great website for years to come,” Babcock added. “I personally want to thank Scott Niska of SmartCreative for the great work he did to make this a reality.”
Along with the creating the new website, SmartCreative played a key role in the evolution of the Canal Run’s logo, which now includes a second runner and cleaner edges. The new logo is featured on the banner of canal.run, on all Canal Run social media feeds and will be on the 2017 Canal Run t-shirts.
“I’m excited to partner with Canal Run because race day is simply unforgettable – it’s hard to believe we have this race in our backyard,” said Niska, Founder of SmartCreative and a proud Keweenaw resident. “Having the opportunity to run through a fresh Keweenaw morning makes this a great course for first timers and seasoned veterans alike. The work the committee and the volunteers put into it really make it stand apart – from the start to the finish it’s simply a must-run!”
Later this week the Canal Run will open voting for the 2017 t-shirt color. Be sure to follow Canal Run on Facebook to make sure your voice is heard! Registration is now open for the half marathon, 10-mile walk, five-mile run, five-mile walk and of course the Canal Run’s signature event, the 10-mile run that starts on the shore of Lake Superior inside of McLain State Park.
The 2017 Canal Run is Saturday, July 15, 2017. Register now.
While the Canal Run is proud of the work done to make this new website a reality, we realize it might not meet all of the needs of all of our users. Please provide any feedback you might have below, or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
